Software Developer Intern

Mphasis is looking for a Software Developer Intern to support the development, testing and maintenance of software applications and enterprise technology solutions. The internship provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in software development and work with experienced engineers on real-world technology projects. The intern may work with technologies such as Java, Python, JavaScript, .NET, REST APIs, databases, Git, cloud platforms and modern software development frameworks, depending on project requirements. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in programming, Object-Oriented Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms, and problem-solving. The candidate should be eager to learn new technologies and apply technical knowledge in a professional software engineering environment. ### Key Responsibilities Assist developers in designing and developing software applications. Write clean, readable and maintainable code under the guidance of senior developers. Participate in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Understand technical requirements and assist in implementing application features. Develop and maintain application components. Assist in building and integrating REST APIs and web services. Work with databases and perform basic data operations. Perform unit testing and assist with integration testing. Identify, troubleshoot and fix software bugs. Assist in debugging application issues. Use Git and version-control systems for source code management. Participate in code reviews and follow established coding standards. Work with development tools, frameworks and cloud technologies. Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, DevOps teams and other project members. Participate in Agile/Scrum meetings and development activities. Prepare basic technical documentation when required. Learn and follow software security and development best practices. Assist with application deployment and maintenance activities. Research and learn new technologies relevant to assigned projects. ### Requirements Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field. Basic programming knowledge in Java, Python, JavaScript, C#/.NET or another relevant programming language. Good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts. Basic knowledge of Data Structures and Algorithms. Understanding of basic software development and SDLC concepts. Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript is preferred for web development roles. Basic understanding of REST APIs, JSON and web services. Basic knowledge of SQL and database concepts. Familiarity with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL or SQL Server is preferred. Basic knowledge of Git and version-control systems. Understanding of software testing and debugging fundamentals. Basic awareness of cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud is an advantage. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment. Knowledge of academic or personal software projects is an advantage. Internship, project or open-source development experience is preferred but not mandatory.
